This Comcast employee definitely made a mistake.
For those of you who haven't heard about the whole issue that's been all over the news lately, definitely take a few minutes and read over this article and listen to the recording from the customer service call to Comcast. This is definitely something to check out and can be found here: https://www.yahoo.com/tech/this-may-be-the-worst-customer-service-call-in-history-91851980684.html
Comcast has apologized to the individual, Ryan Block, a (twitter.com/ryan) with the apology available to read here: (https://twitter.com/comcast/status/489080025350942720) and yet I feel that this is just a glimpse at a much larger issue behind the scenes. I've had many issues in the past with sales people trying to do things like this, but also try to back me into a massive corner and flat out refuse to take no for an answer. I'm thankful that I was able to get out of some of those situations (I wish I could honestly say that I was able to get out of all of them) and yet I recognize that I am not a special situation. There are so many individuals are duped, manipulated, and pushed into situations that they just simply can't think or fight their way out of and I feel that this is not okay.
What is the answer to this? Taking my opinions off of the table, I honestly don't believe that there is one answer to solving this. I look at this and the stories that I've heard from others about this very topic and I'm sure the answer will be found in a variety of different solutions. What do you think about this? I would love to hear your thoughts on this whole issue, whether this specific instance with Comcast or the issue of manipulation and companies trying to take advantage of people. Feel free to comment here on the blog or drop me a line (@solidschultz).
