I still can't believe that District Fine Arts is behind us!!
It has been a fantastic year this year with so many great things to state about Horizon Youth and our participation in this year's Fine Arts Festival, held in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
Going into our preparation this year, I really felt that God was leading us into making this a foundational year. You may ask why now would this be the case, especially since this was our third year participating? I really felt that this was the Lord's leading because there are so many students at youth group that simply have not felt connected to many of the groups that we've done in the past, with all sorts of reasons for sure. This year we decided to change it up and really attempt to build up students to not only try new categories, but to really apply themselves and grow as a result.
We stepped it up big time this year and saw massive growth in all of our entries. We had five group categories this year (Short Film, Drama Ensemble, Children's Lesson Group, Human Video, and Children's Book), up from three last year. We also had twenty-two solo entries this year, including (but not limited to) six sermons, two dramatized quoting entries, and three musical entries.
It was a lot of work, but I am incredibly blessed by such a gifted group of students. These students put themselves out there and really work hard in whatever category is put in front of them. I can't state it enough; I am so proud of all of you.
The judging has not all been received yet, but we have officially received word on five of our entries advancing to the National Level of Fine Arts, held in Orlando, Florida. Those entries are:
1. Children's Lesson Group: "Captain Nemo: Great News From Space!"
2. Short Sermon: Chase Hill
3. Short Sermon: Gabrielle Schell
4. Poetry: Gabrielle Schell
5. Poetry: Eliana Puschett
Please keep us in your prayers as we begin the process of figuring everything out for Nationals. We are so excited to see this program at Living Hope Worship Center continue to grow and move forward!
